SPRING INTO SUMMER
And the Winners are . . .

Many thanks to all who participated in ACT ONE’s Spring into Summer Raffle last month!  We had two terrific prizes for you to choose from ~ theatre tickets and an island getaway, and proceeds from raffle tickets has made it possible for us to launch Festival 2019 in grand style!

The two winning tickets were drawn Sunday, June 9 at the final performance of Cupid’s Arrow!

Ben & Marsha Herman were the winners of our Festival Theatre Tickets Raffle and have 4 tickets to all four theatre events of Festival 2019 and for our special concert with Grammy Award- winning acoustic guitarist Ed Gerhard on Sunday, September 8. The Hermans may gift tickets to friends & family and donate tickets to any nonprofits they support to help them raise funds ~ a win-win-win for theatre lovers!

Bob & Ann Radwan were the winners of The Island Getaway Raffle.  Thanks to the generous support of our June Event Sponsor, Star Island Corporation, the Radwans will enjoy a two-night stay at the historic Oceanic Hotel on Star Island at the Isles of Shoals!  Artists’ Collaborative is very grateful to Star Island Corporation for this wonderful raffle prize and for sponsoring our June Event.

All of us at ACT ONE are grateful to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and helped us put some “fun” in our fundraising!  We invite you all to join us for Festival 2019!

SUMMER FESTIVAL
The Immigrant Garden

ACT ONE is thrilled to share with our theatre patrons this stunning new work ~ a story told in letters by gifted playwright, poet, and novelist, Caroline Wood

We premiered this production in June 2017, playing to full houses and receiving standing ovations and heartfelt praise from audience members.  By popular demand the show returned in September & October 2017.

It’s 1910 and Miss Cecily Barnes of Washington State is passionate about having a flower garden. She finds a catalogue from “Mrs. Beauchamp’s Mystical Flower Seed and Herb Emporium” and sends off to England for seeds. Thus begins a joyous exchange of letters between young Cecily and Louise Beauchamp that grows into a friendship transcending time and oceans. The Immigrant Garden is a journey of love and self-discovery – and a story you will long remember!

SUMMER FESTIVAL
Ballads of a Grateful Heart

Internationally acclaimed writer, performer, and chef James Haller returns to ACT ONE’s Festival with a new performance memoir!

This heartfelt and delightful collage of portraits is told with warmth, spiced with delicious laughter, and is rich in tender insights and grateful love.

A special feature of this production is the evocative music score composed by New England’s own accordionist-extraordinare, Gary Sredizenski!

“Stunning prose, great good humor, nostalgia, and wisdom.”

Mr. Haller first captivated ACT ONE audiences with Salt & Pepper Cooking~The Education of an American Chef, chronicling a lifetime of cooking, from the age of three in the kitchen with his grandmothers to the day he opened his own kitchen in the famed Blue Strawbery Restaurant of Portsmouth at the age of 33.   Haller is a gifted writer and storyteller who weaves humor and compassion into his pondering of the meaning of life.

On A First Name Basis

ACT ONE’s acclaimed staged reading of Norm Foster’s brilliant comedy returns with four performances September 14 – 16!

ON A FIRST NAME BASIS stars Pam Battin-Sacks and
Alan Huisman and is the story of a very successful (but irascible!) novelist
who suddenly realizes that he knows nothing about his maid of 28 years.
She, on the other hand, knows everything about him.

This evening David Kilbride decides to learn all he can about
Miss Hooperstaad. The result is a most engaging exchange – one filled
with revelations that promise to enrich both their lives.

A dazzling conversation ~ uproariously funny,
full of surprises, and deeply moving!”
